Suffolk County PD Officer Saves Man Hit By Forklift By Using Tourniquet

A quick-thinking Suffolk County Police officer jumped into action and saved a man’s life who was struck and injured by a forklift in Brentwood.

Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department's Third Precinct received a report shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, that a man was operating a mechanical pallet jack at Broadridge on Executive Drive, when he was accidentally struck by a forklift inside the building.

According to police, Suffolk County Police Officer Kevin Bell applied a tourniquet to Gabriel Leveille’s right leg after he was struck, likely saving his life.

Leveille, 66, of Westbury, was treated at the scene and transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment on his injuries. His condition was not immediately available late on Tuesday afternoon.
